VFR/IFR Garmin GPS
Training Program
The VFR/IFR Garmin GPS Training Module Will
Cover: There's more to a GPS then just the "direct to" feature.
Clients will learn the various features of the Garmin Global Positioning
System. This includes flight planning, fuel planning, programming
waypoints and TAS calculations.
VFR pilots learn to use the GPS to help divert
to alternates, calculate arrival times, locate the nearest airports,
as navigation aids and air traffic frequencies.
IFR
pilots learn to program the GPS for IFR flight plans, how to program
the unit for ILS, VOR and GPS approaches, how the VNAV function calculates
safe step down fixes on non-precision approaches and how to customize
the GPS on IFR trips to display the most important information for
the appropriate phase of flight.
This lesson includes using the GPS simulator
for ground instruction as well as for the actual 530/430 on a cross-country
flight in one of our Archer III's.
